MLOSTUDIO DOCUMENTATION

Set up MLOStudio.
Start your first project.

Use MLOStudio in Blender on Windows to find GTA V props, place them in your scene and edit materials. Sollumz and CodeWalker handle the game setup and export steps described in this guide.

Important

MLOStudio does not include or distribute GTA V files. A local game-file workflow reads data from your own lawful GTA V installation on your computer.

  1. 01InstallAdd the supplied ZIP through Blender Preferences.
  2. 02Open the tabPress N in the 3D View and open the MLOStudio tab.
  3. 03Getting StartedPaste your key once; Sollumz installs itself, GTA V and CodeWalker are found for you.
START

YOUR FIRST PROJECT

Place your first prop and edit a material.

The base MLOStudio add-on helps you browse and place props and edit materials. Walls and furniture visible in Blender are the start of a scene. A playable MLO also needs the GTA asset structure, collision and room definitions described below.

What to know before you start

For this small practice task, know how to move around the Blender viewport, select an object and move it. Creating a whole room adds modeling and game setup; the official Sollumz introduction links to Blender basics. You can learn these steps as you go.

First result: a saved Blender scene

The illustrated beginner guide follows one small task: find and place a prop, apply a library material, adjust its finish and save the .blend file. It uses the current Prop Browser and Material Editor, with screenshots for each part.

From your scene to a playable MLO

Keep the first interior small: one room with a clear entrance. Use this checklist alongside the linked official tutorials. Follow the instructions for your installed Sollumz version; menu names in older videos can differ.

  1. 1
Prepare the visible geometry — Drawable

Model your floor, walls and ceiling in Blender. The game model is a Sollumz drawable (.ydr): when you select ordinary meshes and press Export in the MLOStudio tab, MLOStudio turns them into one drawable for you. Start with Sollumz's first-asset tutorials.

  2. 2
    Prepare collision — YBN

Collision stops the player falling through the floor or walking through walls. Export adds a basic collision copied from your meshes to the drawable it creates; refine it if you need different collision shapes or materials. Visual materials do not provide collision. Follow the collision tutorial.

  3. 3
    Define the interior — YTYP

Set up the MLO archetype, its rooms, the outside/limbo room, portals at openings and entity assignments. These describe how the interior is organized; placing furniture alone does not define them. Follow the rooms and portals tutorial.

  4. 4
    Place the interior — YMAP

Place the MLO archetype in the world and check its position in CodeWalker. Keep the intended location and dependencies together. Follow the map-placement tutorial.

  5. 5
    Export

Wait for Textures ready for export, select what you want to export and press Export at the bottom of the MLOStudio tab; Sollumz asks where to save. Props placed from the Prop Browser come from the game and are not turned into your own model. An XML export may still need conversion to game files. Read the export tutorial.

  6. 6
Load a test resource in FiveM

Package the required game files in your resource's stream folder and configure its fxmanifest.lua and YTYP registration. Load it on a test server you control. Learn resource structure and check the official manifest reference.

Check the result in game

Walk through the entrance, test floor and wall collision, inspect textures and look through every doorway from both sides. A successful Blender export does not confirm the room works in FiveM. For the full context, follow Sollumz's interior tutorial.

Stuck at a specific step?

Ask on Discord with your Blender, Sollumz and MLOStudio versions, the step above, the exact error and a screenshot. Remove license keys and private information. The older overview video may show a different interface.

INSTALLATION

ADD MLOSTUDIO TO BLENDER.

MLOStudio supports Blender 4.0 or newer on Windows and integrates with Sollumz. Keep the downloaded MLOStudio ZIP intact; Blender installs add-ons directly from ZIP files.

  1. 1
    Open Preferences

In Blender, open Edit → Preferences → Add-ons.

  2. 2
    Install from disk

Choose Install from Disk, select the MLOStudio ZIP and confirm installation.

  3. 3
    Enable the add-on

Find MLOStudio in the add-on list and enable it. You do not need to install Sollumz or anything else yourself: the next step does it.

  4. 4
    Open the sidebar

Return to the 3D View, press N if the sidebar is hidden, then open the MLOStudio tab and follow Getting Started.

Do not unzip

Install the release archive as supplied. Do not install files copied from the website or from an extracted game archive.

/02

FIRST LAUNCH

Follow Getting Started.

The Getting Started box at the top of the MLOStudio tab shows what is still missing, with one button each. When everything has a tick, the box disappears.

License

Paste the key from your purchase e-mail and click Activate. If the key is not accepted, the box tells you why in plain words. Keys for MLO Gen AI credits are entered in the MLO Gen tab instead.

Sollumz

Nothing to click: on the first start MLOStudio downloads the official free Sollumz release and the parts it needs, and switches it on. It takes about ten seconds and needs no admin rights. A Sollumz that is switched off is turned on. Without internet the box shows Install Sollumz to try again; a Sollumz older than 2.8 is updated with one click.

GTA V and CodeWalker

Both are usually found automatically. If not, click Find or pick the folder: GTA V Legacy (the folder with GTA5.exe, which FiveM uses) and CodeWalker (free; download it with the Download button, unzip it anywhere, then click Find).

Local game files

MLOStudio reads props and textures from your own GTA V installation. The files remain on your computer.

LICENSE ACTIVATION

Activate or move your license.

The license term begins on first successful server activation. Your license can be active on one computer at a time. Your activation details are kept encrypted on that computer, outside your Blender project files.

  1. 1
    Enter the key

Open Edit → Preferences → Add-ons → MLOStudio and paste the license key into License Key.

  2. 2
    Select Activate

Wait for the status panel to show the active license type and access state.

  3. 3
    Check or deactivate

Use Check Status to refresh the server state, or Deactivate before moving the license to another installation.

Find My License Key

Opens Gumroad Library or Lemon Squeezy My Orders so you can securely recover or manage the key through the payment provider.

One device

If activation reports a device conflict, deactivate the previous installation before trying again.

Never share the key

Do not include license keys, passwords or private data in feedback messages or screenshots.

ASSET BROWSER

Find a prop in the library.

Browse previews of the props in your library. Search by name or filter by category, subcategory, tags and favorites to find a prop without opening game archives.

Search and filters

Enter text, choose a category or tag and apply the filter. Use the page controls to move through the current result set.

Asset information

Open Asset Info to inspect identifiers and available source metadata. You can copy the prop name or its complete source YTYP reference.

Favorites and reuse

Mark frequently used assets as favorites. Loaded assets are cached so repeat placement does not need a fresh import every time.

MATERIAL SYSTEM

Prepare materials for export.

Select a mesh in Blender, then click Material Editor in the MLOStudio sidebar. This separate window contains the material library, source maps and adjustments. MLOStudio keeps the editable settings alongside the prepared Sollumz material.

Materials → Apply

In the Materials tab, choose a library material and click Apply. In Object Mode it replaces the active material slot of the selected meshes. In Edit Mode it applies to selected faces.

Create Material → From Maps

Expand Create Material and choose From Maps to create a material from your texture maps. The chosen shader determines which maps it supports. Use maps you are entitled to use.

Create Material → Create Empty

Start an editable material without source maps, choose its shader and assign the required textures. An empty draft remains editable but is not ready for export.

Automatic material updates

Completing a supported texture or parameter edit updates the material and prepares its textures. Release the slider and wait for Ready for Sollumz. If preparation fails, resolve the reported problem before exporting.

Build All

Prepares the MLOStudio materials used in the scene and applies them to the objects. Run Build All after combining objects into a drawable or changing that structure, so distinct embedded textures retain their names and pixels.

Save your Blender scene

Use Blender's File → Save As for a new project, or File → Save for an existing one. Automatic material updates do not save the whole .blend file.

Check preparation before export

An empty draft or a failed preparation is not export-ready. After changing drawable structure, use Build All again. Ready for Sollumz describes the material's preparation status; it does not confirm collision, rooms, portals or a working FiveM resource.

MLOSTUDIO AI

Generate a furnished interior from one sentence.

MLOStudio AI is a second add-on next to MLOStudio. Install both; the same license key works in both and each updates itself. Describe the interior you need, and MLOStudio AI builds it in Blender with real GTA props, materials, lights, rooms, portals and collision, then writes a ready FiveM resource into your server's resources folder.

  1. 1
    Write the prompt

For example "modern two-bedroom apartment", "LSPD station with 4 cells" or "nightclub with a VIP area". English, Russian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Polish, Turkish and Chinese prompts are understood. The Examples button fills in ready prompts.

  2. 2
    Choose access, exterior and batch

Open interiors have portals to the street. Teleport interiors have no outside portals; they get daylight windows with sun shafts and a static entrance door. Exterior: generate one, fit the interior inside the exterior you selected in the scene (its outline, height and windows), or none. Batch makes 1, 2, 4 or 8 different interiors from one prompt.

  3. 3
    Generate

Select your server's resources folder once and press Generate. The resource appears there; add the shown ensure line to server.cfg. The same prompt and seed always give the same interior. After manual edits in Blender, Export writes the resource again.

Credits

Each generation uses credits: an apartment, shop or office 1, a house, bar, restaurant, clinic or other large venue 2; a batch costs that per interior. A subscription adds 10 credits every month, Founders get 100. Generation packs add more: 20 for $20, 50 for $40 or 100 for $75; enter the pack key with Add credits in the add-on. A generation that fails is refunded automatically.

Feedback

The feedback button in the add-on sends a bug report or idea straight to us, optionally with your last generation, so we can reproduce it.

Privacy

Prompts are processed on the MLOStudio server. Each generation's prompt, seed and settings are stored (no files from your computer) so we can reproduce and fix bad results.

PLACEMENT TOOLS

Place props in your scene.

Place Mode moves a lightweight ghost through the viewport. Confirming placement creates a copy of the preloaded textured asset. Surface alignment uses the asset's real bounds and pivot when available.

Place Mode

Move the textured ghost to the intended location and confirm it to create the placed copy.

Alignment

Use the placement controls for surface position, orientation, aim and grid snapping where appropriate.

Avoiding intersections

Use Block or Shift Smart to help avoid intersections while placing props. Check the final position before continuing.

/08

TROUBLESHOOTING

Fix common problems.

The MLOStudio tab is missing

Confirm the add-on is enabled in Preferences, then open the 3D View sidebar with N. If Blender just installed an update, restart Blender before checking again.

Game Files cannot initialize

Confirm you are on Windows, your GTA V installation is lawful and readable, and Sollumz 2.8 or newer includes its PyMateria dependency. Open Getting Started and click Find, or pick the GTA V (Legacy, with GTA5.exe) and CodeWalker folders there.

Activation fails

Check the status message, internet access and system date. Re-enter the complete key without extra spaces. If the key is bound elsewhere, deactivate the previous installation. Use Find My License Key if you need the provider's order portal.

An asset has no usable preview or textures

Refresh the selected library explicitly. For local Game Files, verify that the configured game location is still accessible. Missing source data cannot be reconstructed by the add-on.

A material does not update as expected

Confirm the intended object and material are active. Finish the edit and release the slider, then inspect the preparation status. Resolve any texture error. After changing drawable structure, run Build All again in the Material Editor.

Export says "Select what to export first"

Select your room meshes (or an existing drawable) in the 3D View, then press Export again.

Export says a mesh "has no game material yet"

The game can only show surfaces with a game material. Select that mesh, open the Material Editor, apply a material from the library, wait for Textures ready for export and press Export again.

Export says no Sollumz materials are applied

Check the active material, required maps and preparation status. Run Build All in the Material Editor, especially after changing drawable structure. If preparation reports an error, resolve it before exporting; saving the Blender file alone cannot fix that error.

An update installed but the version looks unchanged

Save your Blender work and restart Blender. The new files are installed first; the running process continues to use already loaded code until restart.
